Park The Van Records Blog!

Wow,

We have our own blog! next thing you know we'll have cell phones! Or iPhones, or eye-phones? We're going to use this blog to brag about things we like, love, don't like and really love. Hopefully you'll find out about something awesome and feel the need to share this with your friends.

I'd like to start this blog off with a posting about the first band on Park the Van Records, Dr. Dog. Dr. Dog's collection of amazing videos on You Tube just keeps getting better and bigger. Here are some of our favorite Dr. Dog videos we've found on the web.

Dr. Dog "California"
Looks like this is in Boulder, CO because of the Fox Theater sign. How fucking awesome is this? Dr. Dog runs around the street (which appears nearly empty), Juston uses a soccer ball as a percussion instrument, and Dr. Dog use orange cones to amplify their own voices, talk about showing their label some love! There is some awesome footwork from Juston towards the end, and Toby ends up laughing at some point. That's actually my favorite part because Toby has one of those laughs that makes everyone else start laughing. This is a classic Dr. Dog scene.

Dr. Dog "Ain't It Strange"
Dr. Dog performs "Ain't It Strange" live at Criminal Records. Not only is this one of the best record stores in the country, but this clip of Dr. Dog rocking the spot is just incredible, I wish I was there. Favorite things: Scott's dance, the space the band plays in (cd's, comic books, dvds everywhere!), and the sound quality isn't bad at all!

Dr. Dog "Worst Trip"
Luckily enough, I was there for this one. This was one of the greatest days in recent times, not only because I got to watch Dr. Dog perform live on the Conan O'Brien show, but I also sat right next to Scott's cousin Jim for the entire taping. Jim is a superb human. For some reason I remember feeling nervous for Dr. Dog as this was happening, but I didn't need to be. They killed it. It was awesome. Later that night we all went to a bar and watched it on TV. Everyone in the bar shut up so we could all hear it again. It was pretty funny to be watching Dr. Dog with Dr. Dog.

Dr. Dog "We All Belong"
"We All Belong" (the song) may be my favorite single track on the new Dr. Dog record, but it's really hard to tell (Keep a Friend, The Girl, Alaska... wow). This clip is from the We All Belong CD release party at Johnny Brendas in Philadelphia just this last February. This show featured a string section (as you can hear), and a horn section (which you will also hear) too. The audio on this clip isn't the greatest, but it's still pretty gosh darn amazing. The venue was packed and everyone as having a great time, including my Father! This was such a magical night. I've been told there is a multi-track recording of the entire set.

Dr. Dog & The Teeth in New Orleans
Another evening I was lucky enough to be at. Dr. Dog and the Teeth played in New Orleans and then later on they destroyed a Pinata. I don't know if they had as much as I did, but Zach was the winner of a travel toothbrush, and everyone got bouncy balls!

Dr. Dog Street Team Pt. 1
This is just crazy. I love people who give this much heart into a band they love. Incredible examples here. Please send us more videos like this. (If you want to print out a flyer like this dedicated dude did, please visit http://www.weallbelong.net

(A Different Kind Of Cover) "The World May Never Know"
Okay, nevermind. The last video isn't crazy, this one is. Are these girls triplets? Who sent them?
